The long version. Worth reading.
Let me tell you something most brands won't admit.
When we started Craftel in 2016, we had no idea what we were doing.
No business degree. No investor money. No fancy office. Just a basement in Jodhpur, two clock designs, and a stubbornness that probably should have been diagnosed.
Our first month? Seven orders. Total.
My family thought I was crazy. Maybe they were right.
But here's the thing about Jodhpur.
This city doesn't respect shortcuts.
Jodhpur has been making things with its hands for centuries. The furniture makers on the outskirts. The textile workers in the old city. The jewellers who've been at the same shop for three generations.
Everyone here knows the difference between something made and something manufactured.
I grew up watching craftsmen work. The patience. The detail. The quiet pride when something comes out right.
That's the only standard I knew. So when I started making clocks, I couldn't make them any other way.
The problem with the clock industry.
Walk into any home in India. Look at the wall clock.
It's probably plastic. Probably gold-coloured paint over cheap metal. Probably bought because it was the cheapest option that didn't look terrible.
Nobody talks about it. Nobody notices it. It just... exists on the wall.
That bothered me more than it should have.
A clock is the one object in your home that everyone looks at, multiple times a day, every single day.
It deserved better. Your walls deserved better.
How we actually make them.
Every Craftel clock starts as raw brass.
Our artisans in Jodhpur shape the body, engrave the patterns, bend the bracket scrollwork, and assemble the dial — all by hand. The engraving alone takes hours per piece.
This is why our clocks cost more than the plastic ones on Amazon. And why they last longer than the furniture you put them next to.
It's also why no two Craftel clocks are perfectly identical. There will always be tiny variations — a slightly deeper engraving here, a marginally different patina there.
We don't fix these. They're not flaws. They're proof that a human made it.
